Space Availability - Contactless Holds Pickup

Eligible Patrons:
UMBC library card holders, USM and LNDL faculty, staff, and students.

 

Eligible Items:
Available library materials are requests you have placed via the Catalog, ILLiad and you have received an email message that the materials are available for pick-up at UMBC.

Note: A/V equipment may be borrowed directly from the Digital Media Lab (DML).

 

Eligible items include:

  • Items in the Stacks, Media Stacks, FOLIO, or Leisure Reading collections at UMBC
  • Circulating Laptops - equipment availability and loan terms (UMBC patrons only)
  • Items on loan or belonging to another USM-AI library (based on availability)
  • Requests placed via ILLiad, the InterLibrary Loan site (based on availability)

Remember, for each of these options, you must first receive an email informing you of their availability.

Pick-up Limits:

  • Books on shelf at UMBC (up to 10 items)
  • CDs & DVDs on shelf at UMBC (up to 10 items per format)
  • Items on loan (based on availability)
  • Items owned by another library (based on availability)

Pick-up Appointment Hours:

  • Sunday 12 noon - 7:00 p.m.
  • Monday-Thursday 9 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Scheduling a Pick-up Appointment:

  1. Place a request for the item(s) in the Catalog or via ILLiad
  2. Wait for the “Hold Available” email message
  3. Schedule a pick-up time (see below)
  4. Arrive during your pick-up timeframe. Visitor parking is available in the Walker Avenue Garage.
  5. Proceed to the first floor of the Librar via the main entrance to retrieve the package labeled with your last name. The contactless staging area is identified with a "Curbside Pick-Up" sign.

Contactless Returns

Patrons may drop off materials on campus 24 hours without physical contact. Click here for a campus map with drop off locations. To avoid damage, please DO NOT put AV equipment or laptops in this bin.

You may return these devices during normal library hours. No appointment is required.
